I've see the speed axles that you can buy on most sites. But our rules state the you must use the nails provided. But nothing about working on them. I have my polish kit already to go, and I'm wondering, should I try to use a file to create my own speed axles, but groving the axles where the wheel rides.
Thoughts?

FYI, I have 2 hours (5pm ET) to decide. Unless I get a strong 'Yes', i'm just going to polish them.

Yes, Try Filing the crimp marks off under the head. I wouldnt worry about cutting grooves as much as I would remove the imperfections, and crimp marks. You can chuck up the nail in a drill press, and hold a small file against it. Then polish with 400 grit or so. If you really want to make them shine, then follow up with 800-1200 grit paper. Good luck, Tory J
