I bought a pwd kit yesterday and I noticed the axles were different than any other ones I had gotten previously. Instead of the 3 crimp marks, there looked to be about 8 or 9 on each side. Have I just been getting older kits up unitl this point? I was wondering how well they would fare if the head was filed and shaft was polished up real good but left the crimps marks in. Any thoughts?

You mean the axle on the bottom? I noticed that the axles are straighter and the heads are better as well. I still took the crimp marks off and polished them.
