I read somewhere that your car's performance would improve by lengthening the wheel base. By this I mean maximizing the distance between the front & the rear tires. Or moving your front wheels as far forward as possible and the rear wheels back as far as possible.
Our rules however clearly state that we MUST place the axles in the precut slots provided in the block. On length our pack's rule only say "must not exceed 7 inches"
My question's are this...
If I used the slots provided with the block but cut a little bit off from each end of the block. This would satisfy our packs rules while at the same time our wheels would be at "outsides" of our car.
Does any body have any thoughts or suggestions on this? What are the effects? Pro's and Con's? Is shorter better? Faster?
Thanks

I believe what would be best for you to do is use the slot that is closest to the end of the official block as the rear, measure 5/8" from this slot and cut, that would be the new rear of the car.
To take full advantage of this mod you have to glue the cut off amount of wood back, to bring the over all length of the block back to 7".Not only do you want to move the weight towards the rear of the car,but you also want to stage the weight as high up on the incline as possible to maximize your potential energy.
hope this helps, Maxx
