I have been a member on this forum for quite some time, and was honored to be instated as a moderator. Thanks again Bill.
I've been involved with building these little pinewood cars for about 5 years now. I started in the Awana leagues with my two daughters, and got hooked. Each year would mean I could buy another tool to help them either look better or go faster.
Blind luck helped me to find WIRL. I was ecstatic to find a venue which I could build a car for myself and race against the best in the country. Although it's centered around BSA, the principles were basically the same.
I volunteer each year at the church to offer my tools and knowledge to help those kids/parents build their cars. There is no greater joy then to see a child show up on race night, and run up to you to show you their final product.. These races aren't about winning and losing to me, it's about building relationships.
I've developed some tremendous relationships through these boards, and look forward to welcoming new members, and assisting with endorsing the sport to help gain a greater following.
