I'd like to invite as many of your professional racers to enter your cars in the Fourth Annual Pine Car Rally being held at Myrtle Lake Baptist Church in Land O Lakes, FL. Land O Lakes is just North of Tampa. We'll be racing the morning of July 12th.
I had some guys send me cars last year to run for them as a research and development endeavor This year we have a brand new 35' track and timer. I'll be delighted to run your cars, record their times, and get those times back to you so you know where you stand for future competition.
We will be running a variety of different classes this year which will include 1st - 5th grade stocks, teen and adult stocks, teen and adult modifieds and Royal Racers.
Rules I run the first three classes by are WIRL rules while the Royal Racers class is run under Royal Ambassador rules.
Entry fee is $5.00 and goes to church ministry work.
Please ask any questions you may have.

Bring along one of your cars and race with us, we'd love to have you.
Sand Key is beautiful. My wife and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary in a beachfront condo there the weekend of May 16th through the 18th.

Eight00hp, how far is the race from Sand Key? I would love to bring a car or two. Congrats on your 15 years!! Be sure to stop at the Salt Rock Grill down Gulf Blvd. and sit outside on the intercoastal. Heaven.

I'm retired and my part time job is as a chauffeur. I've brought people over to the Salt Rock Grill, but never tried it out myself. The place gets solid reviews. We'll have to check it out.
As for how far away you'd be from Myrtle Lake Baptist Church, I'd say about 40 miles. Timewise an hour at most.

If you decide to add a Royal Ranger division let me know. I realize Royal Rangers are a rare breed, but I have a ranger car that I wouldn't mind entering.

Eight00hp,
Are you accepting cars via mail for the upcoming Pine Care Rally? We are planning to be in the Apalachicola area of Florida the week of the of the race. However it appears that mileage to Land O Lakes would be 300, one way.

Tom,
Yes, you can mail an entry to the church which is located at 2017 Riegler Rd, Land O Lakes, FL 34639.
I had three entries from out of state last year. The cars where bundled in padding, tightly packaged in boxes and made it in excellent condition. I suppose if you are a national level competitor you know already how to send your cars so they don't get damaged in transit.
You realize that you'd be responsible to shipping both ways. and that the entry fee is $5. We'll keep times on the car for you so you know how well you do and if you are are winner we'll send you your first, second or third prize ribbon and certificate of participation which goes to anyone who competes. We also have a best appearing car category.
What type of car would you be entering? Where are you from?
I'd like to thank you very much for your interest and desire to support our church.
God bless you.

Hey Parrot Racing,
The wife and I just got back from Sand Key. We stayed in an oceanfront condo owned by dear friends of ours. Oceanfront with a balcony overlooking the beach. Nice large swimming pool, hot tub and shuffleboard. Room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable.
Didn't get over to the Salt Rock Cafe. We had one of their menus in the condo, looked it over, and decided it was far to pricey for us lower middle class folk.
We did eat at a new place on the North Beach side of Clearwater called Clear Sky. They have a pretty good grouper sandwich. Got an excellent pizza with eight toppings at TJ's Italian Cafe in Belleair Beach right on Gulf Blvd. Wife said its been the best pizza we've ever had since moving to Florida from Massachusetts.
If you like donuts you've got to go to Lighthouse Donuts which is also on Gulf Blvd in Belleair Beach. Best donuts I've ever had in my life.
It was a fabulous way to celebrate our 15th annivesary.

Eight00hp,
The divisions we race in are Rookie, Pro Stock, and Modified, no Stock cars. We plan on entering a minimum of two. Class to be determined in a couple of weeks when fabrication nears completion on six cars. We are located in the metropolitan area of Atlanta Georgia.
As far as payment for return shipping, may we include this with our entry fee? Is there an additional fee for the best appearence category?

Tom.
There is just the one time fee of $5 per car entered, no additional fees for participation in best appearing.
If you can get an idea of how much it will be to ship the cars back to Georgia I guess there would be no problem in including the return shipping amount along with the entry fees.
Keep in touch.

I'm sure I could find a division amongst my many division in which you could run your Royal Ranger car. Could it be run with the Royal Racers or maybe even the modifieds what with the narrow wheels a Royal Ranger car has?

Eight00hp,
Final preparations are being made this week on each of the cars for the upcoming Pine Car Rally. Ship date appears to be July 1st. We are considering shipping by United Parcel Service or dependability and tracking status. Would there be an issue in return shipment via UPS?
Thanks,
Tom

Hey Tory (AKA Derby Doc)
Will you be entering one of your cars in the MLBC Pine Car Rally this year?
Thought I'd let you know, so as to stroke your ego, I've been using a picture of your "5 oz. of Pain" car in some of my advertising. The kids just love the name and appearance of the car.

Had 30 entries in four divisions of competition. Classes were Kid's Stock, Royal Racers, Teen-Adult Stock and Outlaw Modifieds. I'd like to thank Tom Tyson of Firenze Derby Sportscar who was the only WIRL competitor who sent entries, two to be precise. One of Tom's entries, an Outlaw Modified class entry, finished second in the OM Main Event recording the following times with his Black/Yellow Car: Lane 1 - 2.5448 Lane 2 - 2.5517 Lane 3 - 2.5679 Lane 4 - 2.5603 The winning Outlaw Modified of Alan Johnston, the 46 year old adult son of one of the church deacons, had the following winning times: Lane 1 - 2.4938 Lane 2 - 2.4908 Lane 3 - 2.4914 Lane 4 - 2.5003 This was our first year running Royal Racers and Outlaw Modifieds. Fans in attendance were really enthralled by the speed of the OMs I had two cars entered: one Teen-Adult Stock and one Outlaw Modified. I finished third in each class. This was the debut of our brand new track. It is a SuperTrack ABS Plastic Pinewood Derby Track. It has four lanes with each lane having 3.4 inches of clear, wide surface and is an edge guided track. It is 35 feet in length. Our timer is a SuperTimer II. It is a fantastic timer in that it talks giving out the entire finish after each race is run including the times for each car. We found the track to be very fast as compared to the aluminum track we borrowed from a local Cub Scout pack in previous years. All in all it was a great day as we raised roughly $200 for the church ministry from entry fees and the concession stand. John

I believe Tom's Outlaw Modified entry was his Viva XRB car. Correct me if I'm wrong Tom.

John,
Any race day that ends with 200$ to a church ministry is indeed a great day! I applaud your efforts!
