I built 4 cars. Three of them I canted the axle drilling tool ever so slightly for toe in on the front running wheel. I'm attempting to rail run. These three cars have between 7 and 10 inches run out per 4 feet. The last car I drilled the front axle strait. This car ended up with 2 inches of run out per 4 feet. All 4 cars have the opposed wheel raised. I believe the car that was drilled strait but yet turns the 2 inches is due to the added weight on the running wheel? Are the 3 cars that have the 7 to 10 inch run out going to be slowed down much with all the wheel scrubbing? If so then what would be the best way to correct my problem? I want to keep from drilling another axle hole or bend the axle. What should be my plan of attack? Thanks!

I wanted to add that we'll be running on a 42 foot Best track. Plus I turned my stock BSA wheels down to 1.2 grams. The inside of the wheel has a slight bevel from the tread to the hub. The outside of the wheel is flat. Tread width is only .015 and slightly rounded over.

Phil, I bought machined axes and they are strait as an arrow. I guess I could just glue a tooth pick in the hole and re drill?

Id start by bending the front axle very slightly, and then slightly rotate it until you get the desired alignment on the test board. I like to have about 2 inches in 6-8 ft. But that takes a lot of tweaking sometimes. Ive tuned on a single car for more than an hour plenty of times.

I'll give the axle bending a shot.
