This looks like an interesting tool: Air City is making it. I have spoken with him before. He seems like a pretty nice guy. He's selling them on ebay. I tried to post a link, but couldn't get it to work. Any thoughts?

Looks like it would work just fine to remove wheel/axle without damaging the wheel. However, not sure what it would do to the inner portion of axle head. (lot's of time goes into polishing those babies and it would be a shame to scratch them).
Here is what I use - (i believe this may have been posted in the past) - "plastidip"
(took an old needlenose and dipped it in the liquid and it dries into a protective rubber coating) - basically what is already on the handle
Works great to pull out axles w/o scratching- never damages wheels! (cheap too) ;D

Everyone I showed it to liked it... Everyone should have one in their toolbox. Pat

i use a finger nail clipper. any size works. the opening slides over the head of the axel without having to put any pressure or indentations on the head or the shaft of the axel, thus reducing the chances of ruining your polishing work. just slide it over and pull, you dont even have to engage the clippers.
