Last year I built a track and timer using it also. I wish it had a decimal place, I faked the one in the picture. The outside lane timers are CAD pictures behind the lexan. I hope to add 2 more timers next year. The tower is aluminum tubing, the faces are aluminum sheet metal, the timer is mounted to 1/2" plywood. Infrared LED's are glued into the track.

JUST WONDERED HOW LONG YOUR TRACK IS AND WHAT KIND OF AVERAGE TIMES YOU RUN, 32 feet long, start 1ft from top, finish 4ft from end = 27ft start to finish. Best time 2.404 - average 2.410 (the day before the Pack race)! Won everything!! Averaged 2.475 the day before the District race (came in 4th in town). I changed the wheels and axels (the wheel bores looked chewed up after the Pack race). Should have left them alone. I added a home made solenoid start in June (no pics yet). The starts are more consistant. I'm planning on adding skid ramps in January. Maybe build a ballistic stopper. The good thing about the foam bumper "stop" is that how far the car bounced back, was a good indication of how well the car was running. Any car that bounced back 18-20 feet had very little friction.
