This could help a lot of people who just want to check tracking on their cars! very nice! It is easy to put together and work with? Decent quality? What stops the cars? What is the finish on the track like? Is it particle board? How does it ship and does it have a case? LOL!

It is very easy to put together. The track is made of MDF. The cars are stopped by a piece of foam mounted to 2 long bolts at the end of the track.
It works well for testing our scout cars. We won the districts this past year. Now we have a fast car to test all future cars against.

You won't be disappointed. It really is a nice track. Just fits in the bay of my garage. It does not come with a case, but the box it comes in can be used for storage. It also comes with 2 car kits with weights, wheels, paint and pre cut bodies.

I bought this track on Ebay ($110-) this year but never had a chance to use it. Still a decent overall value. I wanted something to compare the several cars we built. Just ran out of time. This will not happen next year.

Good tip guys, I am thinking of getting one of these myself.
Two questions: 1) How high is the starting gate? 2) The order info said that the track is 18' long which will fit nicely in my garage - my question to the engineering types is what is the correlation of results between an 18' foot track, a 32' track, and a 40' foot track? I guess what I am asking is if I do trials on a couple of my cars on the 18' track would I expect similar results on a longer track with the same cars. I hope this isn't clear as mud.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think the design is pretty on with a standard 32' wood track, it has a decent drop and a longer run out, not quite as drastic as say WIRL's track so with the acception of moving your CM forward a tad I think it a good marker.
few issues with it. Stopping section is terrible, it is gray foam cantered on 2 long screws, smashe the heck out of 2 cars on my forst run. Modified this by putting a box end from the track packaging ends over it and it works fine. Also the strait section needs more support in the middle I may try to mae a few shims because the gapping is slight but still hard on the tires.
A Special Note... Always warn the bugs before releasing the cars, I have 2 or 3 big splatters on the guides....gross!

Thanks Palmiejm! Just ordered one of these babies and can't wait till it gets here to try it out. Got to be much better than my table top for testing. What I need now is an inexpensive, no-brainer type of timer that will work on this track. Any ideas panel? Just remember, I am a therapist not an engineer. ;D

Yes,
It is much better than a table top. ;D. Funny you are asking about a timer. I think I talked my wife into a fathers day present ;D. It is a one lane timer (http://newbold.zoovy.com/product/280). It is the cheapest I could find. I think you could build your own timer for $40 in parts and alot of headaches later. Don't remeber the link. I could try to find it if your are interested.
Good luck with the track and let me know how you like it. I know John from Pinewood Performance got the track really quick. I think it has to do with how close you are from there shipping center.
Have fun, John.

John and John , this is John....
uh...anyway it only took like 3 days for me, however I live 23 minutes from the facility it shipped from ... nevewr more than a week I'd say, call Speigel and get your track number once it has shipped then call UPS, they will be able to give you a pretty good date on it.

Do you mean gapping where the track pieces meet or the underside of the track. Does each section bow even on the flat sections? I am at work so i cannot check. I used my track last night and I did not notice any problems. I also partially dis-assemble the track when I am not using it. The kids would step all over and ride there bikes over it. John.

I GOT ONE FOR X-MAS. MY PARENTS GAVE ME $100 BUCKS . SO IN A WAY THE GOT IT FOR ME. ;DI MOSTLY USE THE START SECTION. I ANGLE IT UP ON THE COUCH. THEN COMPAIRE CARS AGANST EACH OUTHER FOR A QUICK COMPAIRE. I HAVE MADE A CURVED TRANSITION TO GO WHERE IT TOUCHES THE GROUND. I ALSO USED PILLOWS FOR THE STOP. JUST LOOKING AT THE FOME STOPER AND KNEW NOT TO USE IT.ONE OF THESE DAYS I WILL PUT SOM PAINT ON IT.IF YOU NOTICE THE LAST SECTION HAS VELCROW. IF YOU PUT SOME OF THE FUZZY STICK ON PART ON THE BOTTOM IT MAY STOP IT BETTER. BUT I HAVE NOT TRYED IT OUT MY SELF.
