This was originally posted on PWDR but wanted to post over here for those of you that might be interested in racing with us for this race. There is also an auction of awesome cars and vendor items going on right now for this benefit race. Shoot me a pm if you are interested or have any questions.
As most of you know, and as was announced at Lima Land, we at WIPR have planned a special race for November 8th. We are running a special division race for a very special person and her family. Most, or all of you, know Scoutmom/Teresa and the trials and tribulations she has endured with both her pack and more importantly the surgeries that her daughter Alaura has been going through. Here is a quick explanation of what happened:
As for Alaura .... she was in a horrible accident last year. The right side of her face is disfigured-- so she started wearing her hair to cover that side. She dyed her hair dark and started wearing the dark clothes after reading the "Twilight" books. I think she dresses that way because it goes with the hair hanging in her face. And yes.... I hate the way that people stare, and the looks they give me like: "how can you let your kid look like that"? I have talked to Alaura about it and she said that she would rather people stare at her clothes/hair then stare at her damaged face and ask questions. So, I have backed off. She has had six surgeries in the last 13 months. She is going to have another one next month and we are hoping that her face will be back to almost "normal" and that she will ditch the hair and dark clothes. It has been a LONG year (she was practicing her show jumping, came off the horse, and he stepped on the right side of her face-- completely crushing it. Her face has had to be rebuilt with plates. She spent 13 days in the hospital-- was taken there by Care Flight-- and wearing her protective helmet saved her life). I know that you probably weren't looking for our life story, but I always feel like I need to explain about the hair. Heck, Alaura is 14 years old, she might look like that even if her face had not been disfigured in a riding accident! That's the wonder of teenagers!!!
Back in May Warren asked if we(the moderaters/board) wanted to get involved in helping members that needed help. WIPR said yes and this is what we have come up with-
On November 8th we will be running a special division race.

-Division rules as used here at PWDR-
-Exception> We are allowing the use of the NEW BSA wheels for this race only.
-Entry fee for this division race is $20 per car-
-To offset this cost WIPR is collecting only a $10 flat fee for all other division races. For example, 3 cars or 5 cars or 7cars all = $10!
The theme of the race is Alaura's Favorites. All entries should be pink(Alaura's favorite color). Below is a list of her other favorites:
-Color- Hot/Bright Pink
-Bands- Dance Gavin Dance, The Beatles, Blue October, Shinedown, Taking Back Sunday, Framing Hanley
-Horses

We ask you that you try to incorporate some of Alaura's favorites into your car.
We invite all of you to attend this race. If you cannot attend we ask you to proxy or consider sending a donation. Please PM me if you wish to donate or proxy.
We have several committed vendors supplying door prizes for this race and we will be announcing these very soon.
We know that we cannot make up for all the out of pocket expenses that Teresa and her family are incurring, but we can help, even a little, to make a difficult situation a little easier to get through and to help put a smile back on a wonderful girl's face.
Thank You,
WIPRacing
