History of WIRL and wood car racing

I'm a budding collector of wood racers from Pinewood to outlaws, but I'm having a hard time placing a certain car that I bought. It has a hold in the back that a friend says is for co2, and eyelets on the bottom to run the length of a basketball court on a fishing line. That's all the farther that I got. I can't find anything on the net to followup on this. I was hoping some of you can help. They seem to be beautifully sculpted cars and I like the size.

Seems like a CO2 dragster, not a Pinewood Derby car.
