Hi, I'm have been thinking of using a straight pin mounted next to the axle to keep the coned hub from rubing on the body. I was thinking of drilling a hole next to the axle and gluing a straight pin in so that the head of the pin was flush up against the body. My thinking is that it would minimize body rub. Has anyone done this? The head of the pin is polished and would provide a small contact area. Anyone have any thoughts on this? One other question, I have a track I can use for testing, but it does not have a timer. How can I tell if my speed is improving?

While your idea of using a straight pin to keep the wheel from coming into contact with your car body may work, the ideal set up is to have your wheels migrate out to the axle heads to avoid this situation to begin with. If your wheels are not migrating out to the axle heads, you have a toe-in/toe-out issue with your car that you need to take care of. Without having a timer on your track, it will be very hard to impossible to tell if your times are improving or not. Lucky 13

Thanks. We won Pack and are heading to the district I have the tools coming for the rail riding setup. We have a track to use, but it does not have a timer. Is there a source for a budget timer? I'd like to know that we are moving in the right direction. The race is next weekend. Thanks
