I'm new at this, so bear with me. My work is having a pinewodd derby race. I don't know the track length because they are renting a track. There is no weight limit and the only rules are you have to use something out of the build kit and you can't have any form of propultion (spelling?).
I don't want to spend a lot of money, at most $20. I'm really handy and a perfectionist. What can i do to make a fast car with no rules. What weight should i make it? Should i attach washers to the body, polish them, and put the axles threw them. That way if the wheel rubs it doesn't rub the body and if it hits the rail it doesn't hit the wheel. I could set it up so that it rail rubs against the washer he whole way. I plan to set the axles at a slight up angle from the body so the wheels stay on the outside of the axle.
So what would you do to build a car cheaply with no rules?

Can you get them to put a 5 oz weight limit on the cars? Gosh, I can tell you how to build a car but they must put a weight limit on those little things!
