We are running a "Renegade" race for dads, moms, siblings, etc. with a pretty wide latitude on rules.
Last year, I won this race using 3/32 i.d. flanged ball bearings, with razor style wheels glued to the bearings, and the bearings pressed onto the axle shafts. I think the pressed on bearings actually slowed my car down a bit.
This year, I want to "up the game" a bit by using dual 3/64" i.d. ball bearings on each wheel, and I'm looking for some recommendations. I've seen photos of other dual-bearing wheels, and they use what looks like small surgical tubing or something similar to retain the wheels & bearings on the axles.
This is the part that has me scratching my head a bit. I'm looking for a reliable way to retain the bearing/wheel assemblies onto the axles (drill rod), without interfering with the bearing's ability to turn freely.
Any advice would be appreciated.
