center og mass/gravity and weights and length

How long is to long on a car in a outlaw class with a 6 ounce weight limit, also how do you figure center of mass/gravity without the special tools, also what is the best location for the weights and center of mass/gravity. i am cuttoung out my sons car tongiht, i have two blocks from kits this year and a block from the mid 90's that i got when i worked for the BSA>

To find the center of mass - stand a ruler on its side and place the car on top. Keep moving the car back or forward until it balances on its own. That will be the center of mass.
