We just returned from our Awana Grand Prix where we were only able to salvage a 3rd place finish. Not bad but we were expecting better. I feel like I've got a pretty good understanding of weight placement and wheel and axle prep but I suspect we aren't applying the RR technique properly.
To explain simply, we bend our axles ourselves (no press since they are Awana axles and won't fit a press). We install the rear axles to where they are pointing up and rotate them to where the wheels always migrate to the axle head whether the car is rolling forwards or backwards.
The clarification I need is concerning the "dominant front wheel". Is this axle intended to be installed the same as the rear or in a downward orientation....allowing the top of the wheel to point out and the tread to ride on the outside. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we have the Cub Scout PWD coming up and I don't want to keep making mistakes. If you need more details....I can provide.
Thanx
