I have been requesting that our council adapt some type of uniform rules between districts for years. They never respond to my input. In our Council's infinate wisdom, they decided to chage the rules in the last week, after most Scouts have completed their cars, to make the rules between districts, more uniform.
Here is a sample of the rules. ;D
9. Axles cannot be grooved, or otherwise altered beyond light sanding to remove any burrs. 10. The head of the nail must be viewable for inspection. The axles (nails) may be polished, grooved and stamping imperfections removed but the shape and size of the head may not be altered.

That's pretty lousy that they changed the rules right before the race. They should give at least two months.

I called them up and told them of the descrepency. They then went with no grooves.
All these scouts have all ready made their cars and most of them will not comply with the rules if they make it to council. On top of that, the rules say that you cannot use a different car for Council.
The new rules said that you must use the original grooves for the axles. At our workshops, all of the cars that were made, had longer wheelbases.
My son Shawn (TNR at PWDR) was the slacker so he was able to use the axle grooves.

The "head" of the nail must be viewable for inspection? Do they mean the "tip"?
