so got smoked last year as I never did pinewood derby as a kid and now mine is doing it again....
Have to use axle slots and debating between the two tools, wondering what works best for people.
Thanks

They each serve a different purpose. The Pro-Axle Guide makes sure the axle go in straight and the wheel is properly gapped. But if the axle slots are a bit crooked, then the axles will be installed a bit crooked.
The Pro-Body Tool will pilot drill the slots which generally straightens crooked slots. So if are not confident in the slots being accurate, the Pro-Body Tool would be important. You can then use the Pro-Axle Guide for insertion, but you could get by with just a gap gauge.

Bozack, sorry for such a long delayed reply.
There are many factors that go into going fast or doing better, the wood, axles, wheels, prep work, alignment, weight placement.
You can do well with slots. it does take a bit more time and effort, but that investment pays off on race day.
I like the pro body tool and used it several times over the years.
I always recommend getting a few extra blocks of wood to practice and take your time and read and learn. There is so much you can learn about and do these days.
Got any questions or so forth, feel free to pm me, I will try and help you along.
