Hi all I'm new here, so please bear with me. Here's a pic of the car (my first) that won the district event created by Toyota (N.Y. region) It ran 3.04 on a 42' aluminum track. I'll be going to the regional finals sometime in March. Got a LOT of good info from here, but took a little, to wade through all of the engineering stuff. We were required to use the BSA rules, so I had to stay within those parameters. All I can say is, I'm glad I didn't get involved with these little monsters 40 yrs. ago! This is the second car that I made, and it ran a 3.01 but not in competition (I could only enter one car) Lee

Hi Don't know where the Regional event will be yet. The Toyota New York Region has 10 districts. The last district race was last week. When I asked when the finals would be, the response was sometime in March.
To give you a little history, this is the 1st annual race that Toyota (N.Y. region) has done. It's for all of the Toyota technicians in their respective dealerships who want to race. My district race was held at the Marriotte Hotel in Cromwell Ct, with dinner and coctails, provided by Toyota (they are pretty lavish with their events) at no cost to us techs! We received word last November about the race, and that's when I started to work on the formula car. I wanted it to look and run decently. As this was my first ever pinewood car ( I'm almost ready to retire) I started checking the internet for info, and stumbled onto this site. I really am having a hard time grasping how much theory and engineering goes into these little cars. Definitely not your avg. Cub Scout cars, although that's where it all starts. Both of my sons are now well into their family lives and I have grandchildren that think of these things as toys. Well, I guess I do to, but of a different nature, LOL. I may be getting older, but I still like my "toys" too.

Just figured out why you started out by calling me Double TT,Duhh! My wife saw your name before me, and said "Did you see that before you registered?" Hope I didn't step on any toes.Sorry...
Sending a car to a race sounds interesting, but I'd need more info. Been thinking about getting a track of my own and holding races for those who want to do it more than just once a year. My oldest son went to the district race and he's hooked on these things now! Seems I've developed a target on my back and he wants to beat " Old Man". This is gonna get interesting!

Hey Knotthead (Double T):
Welcome. I love those designs. Both cars look to be beautifully made. Consider proxy racing. It's a blast.

Hey Toyotatech...looks like you cleaned house too! What dealership and where are you from? Should be an interesting race in Jersey! Any word yet, as to when the race will be?
Good to see another tech that's taking a serious approach to this. Are you going to get involved with proxy racing after the regionals have been run? BTW, that's a cool truck you put together. I'm from Lynch Toyota, Manchester CT.

Thank you. I was gunning for best looking, really didnt know how fast the car was going to be. I'm from Manfredi Toyota in Staten Island, NY. I don't know when the next round is or where it's going to be, but I keep asking. This was my first time with this too, well since i was a young lad in scouts. I'm looking forward to it though. Was a lot of fun the first round.

T-tech...whenever this regional event takes place, I'll be by the weigh-in station keeping an eye out for your truck. It'll be nice to meet you in person. Hopefully my wife will be with me as she came to the district event and filmed the race. See you there

I'll keep an eye out for you as well. I actually first saw pics of your car on your wife's quilting website while I was doing a search for other racers involved in this event. She seems very proud of you. My wife on the other hand thinks that I am rediculous for the amount of time I had spent at home getting my car ready for the first event. She was thrilled to hear my results though, and even more happy to see what I received. I'm trying to drag her to the next round so she can see what it's all about. If I hear anything about the details for the next round I'll be sure to let you know asap.

Hi Pete, I was able to get a little info from the service rep that came to the shop today. Apparently the office boys at Toyota are having their race this month and we've been blown off 'till April. Supposedly some info is going to be published in the next week or so as to what is going to happen and when.
Try to drag your wife to the regionals. My wife can keep her company so that she doesn't feel like she is being left alone.

Pete, and anyone in the area. Just got word from Toyota that the regional finals will be held at the Marriott Hanover, 1401 Rt.10 east, Whippany, NJ on April 26th at about 8pm. From what my letter says, 6:30-7:30 will be drinks and social hr., followed by dinner at 7:30, then the racing commences.
BTW, Pete, that case you keep your truck in wouldn't be a baby wipes tub, would it? Just happened to see my grandson's wipes and I'll be darned if it didn't look similar

hahaha, that's exactly what it is. Better than the cardboard droplight box I brought it to the first race in. Plus it keeps it protected. Got a little crazy with my free time at work one day. Figured it deserved a new trailer after it's first performance

Hey Pete, you'll get a laugh when you see my set-up! It's a ten pin bowling ball bag ;D! cars on the top, tools on the bottom. Gotta design a shipping container to send my cars to WIRL, and PWDRACING. Are you going to try proxy racing?
