Has anybody tried to harden the area where the wheel meets the body with a hard glue (Epoxy maybe) and then coat that area with graphite while the glue is still tacky? I would think that would work like a washer and give the wheel somewhat of a race to run in.

I haven't tried that, but back when I was using graphite, I used to put a piece of tape over the axle holes before paint, and when the body was dry, I would rub in a ton of graphite in the bare wood area.

There was a previous post to this effect about a year ago as I recall; I think Panzer wrote it.
I coat the area with epoxy, add graphite to the liquid film, then smooth and add more graphite it as it cures. Does it work? Not sure, but it feels good.
