Neat stuff! Haven't tried it on an axle glued in, but it works wonderful on not yet glued axles. Thank you very much. That's one of the better tool tips I've had in a while.

I use a toothpick to apply a dab of 5 minute epoxy inside the axle hole.
To remove the wheel, I use a needlenose pliers and twist the axle to break the bond.
Sometimes, the head gets marred, but a small file works well to remove the burr. I've never lost a wheel yet...

Sometimes, the head gets marred, but a small file works well to remove the burr. I've never lost a wheel yet... I used some plasti-dip on an old pair of needle nose pliers and that helped a lot to keep from marring the axle head. I would have thought that maybe epoxy would be too much of a bond. Have you tried any kind of super glue? Was it better or worse? After you remove the axle, do just drill out the epoxy to open the same hole again?

A drop of super glue will hold it in place and then just a slight twist with the plasti-coated needle nose releases it. I drill a hole in the bottom of the car into the axel well about 1/4 inch in. That's where I put the drop of glue. That way there is no chance of getting it on the wheel.

I haven't tried Super Glue, but it sounds like it works well for a lot of racers; I might just "give it WIRL".
I don't re-drill the holes after removal; the epoxy stays in the hole and the axle comes out clean. I just re-glue and re-insert the axle.
