This is coming from a newbie. I’ve been looking around at different axle designs. Since our Cub Scout PWD requires the use of the BSA axles (no restrictions on modifications), we are going to stick to them, but would like to know what seems to be the best design or modifications.
What’s the best way to get the 3 little bumps off the BSA axles?
How long do we polish with each grit of polish paper (e.g. 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, etc)? We bought a Craftsman rotary tool, like a Dremel tool I think. Do we use a low speed or high?
I’ve seen axles with grooves at various number, size and locations. Do the grooves help that much? Someone mentioned that a groove by the head promotes wheel wobble, is this true? Where, how many, how deep and wide should grooves be? Can they be made using a hand rotary tool?
Sorry about all the questions in this one post, but we really are starting from scratch on the learning curve. And sorry if these have all been discussed, I'm new to the board and didn't find anything yet that I could understand the answer.
