Hi again -
Ramping up for my first PWD experience in 28 years. So please forgive the many posts that I'm making this week :>
Once you've sanded off the bumps, does polishing the wheel tread matter? Or is it good enough to call it a day at 600-grit and live with the very small scratches that remain?
If I were to polish I would try jeweler's rouge and a rag as that approach has been recommended a few times here on the board. Where should I expect to find that stuff (rouge)?
Thanks!

I got mine at Lowe's of all places.. You can find sticks of it (it's a polishing compound) and comes if diff colors (numbered 1-5) depending on the level of polishing you're doing. It cost about 4 bucks or so but it will last a long time... I used the number five and seems to do a good job. Plus, it gives the graphite something to stick to if you wanna do it. I had my wheels in a mandrel and power drill attached to a bench vice. Lay the stick onto the tread surface of the wheel, it will pick up the compound because of the minor scratches and turn the wheel a white color... Once you do that just lay a clean soft cloth like a cotton shirt on the wheel tread and buff the polish back off, being careful not to apply too much pressure or it will create heat and melt the wheel
