What does everyone use to clean the axles and wheel bores when you are trying to clean off oil and graphite. How do you know when you have all of the lubricant off ? I am trying to test different lubes on the same set of wheels and axles.
Thanks, John.

I was told rubbing alcohol by Forest Fogle. But it rusted my axles. I personally use 0000 steel wool after a good wipe down

PK, I have used a combination of kitchen dish detergent coupled with a mild "whitening" toothpaste (has a very safe abrasive). Pipe cleaners help. Then I clean axles with denatured alcohol. Wash each once more in water and dry.
Works pretty good, but I have my concerns that graphite and perhaps some of the oils might penetrate and can never be completely removed.
Good luck. I am trying a new combo myself of SB10 and Silicone.

PK, When I clean the wheels the last thing I do is coat them in silicone and then wipe down. I apply SB10 to the axle and then coat the inner hub with SB10 on a pipe cleaner, put them together and spin serveral times. Basically it is just using SB10 but with a wheel coating of silicone. Looks good so far in tests. Silicone is very very fast, just not durable.
