I'm new to the board, although I've been reading it many a night, into the wee hours. I appreciate everyone's insights, experiences and knowledge.
Our church boys, Cadets, have an annual PWD. Each Cadet has the opportunity to build and race a car. The kits that are provided are like nothing I read about on any boards.
The kit includes a block with 4 axle holes drilled; 4 wheels, which are very soft plastic and have inner & outer angled hubs, hub diameter is just under 1/8". The axles are wood screws and also have small washers included.
Around here the secret lube is Silicone spray. Some spray several coats, letting each coat dry naturally over several days. While some bake the silicone on the axles. I admit I have tried both methods with good success. But my son is wanting to go faster, so I've ordered some graphite moly lube, I believe the stuff from Extreme.
I'm wondering if combining the two lubes would be beneficial or if it would create too much drag. Also, would it be beneficial to "burnish" the inside of the wheel bore with the graphite moly and a toothpick, or bamboo skewer stick?
Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks
