I'm going through my wheel prep and remembered I had a little hand held 30X "microscope" I got at Radio Slack several years ago to see the effects of techniques in blade sharpening my working knives. (I collect knives - but don't get me started ) IF any of you want to feel inadequate in your race prep get one of these microscopes and look at the wheel hubs and bore holes as you progress. Like looking at the roughest surface you can think of! You can see lint, plastic shavings, grains from sand paper, you name it. The actual worked surfaces (the cone area from the Pro Worx tool coned in and sand paper are pretty smooth after about 100 turns using wet fine paper. And get better the longer you go. Anyway, I thought it was a great idea to REALLY look as your work progresses. John

I always use a magnifying glass. My wheel bores do look like black glass when I'm done. I'm sure they would look like my face after two days of not shaving under a microscope. ;D
