Well, we had 18 racers with 30 spectators attend the 2nd annual, first ever WIRL sanctioned Summer Shootout Pinewood Derby Race in Plymouth Indiana on June 18th, 2005. The competition was TOUGH! We had racers show up from Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana. It was great to talk to everyone in person. Our guests from Ohio whipped up on everyone pretty good. We will travel to Larry Reeds race in Ohio in September to try and redeem ourselves! ;D
Results: Senior Division 1st - Fred Wheeler 2nd - Larry Reed 3rd - Don Kitch 4th - Bud Drake 5th - "Doctor" Denny Smith 6th - Steve Swartz 7th - William Severeid Adult Division 1st - Bob Barga (Wooden Wonder) 2nd - Mike Hoover 3rd - Mike Parrish (Parrish Racing) 4th - Dwain Everly 5th - Von Wolff 6th - RRR Racing 7th - Mike Kern (Kern Dawg Racing) 8th - Roger Oakley Junior Division 1st - Robbie Barga Pee Wee Division 1st - Ryan Wolff 2nd - Lane Everly Overall Champions 1st - Bob Barga 2nd - Robbie Barga 3rd - Fred Wheeler 4th - Larry Reed 5th - Don Kitch 6th - Mike Hoover 7th - Mike Parrish 8th - Dwain Everly 9th - Bud Drake 10th - Denny Smith 11th - Von Wolff 12th - Ryan Wolff 13th - Lane Everly 14th - Steve Swartz 15th - RRR Racing 16th - Mike Kern 17th - Roger Oakley 18th - William Severeid
There were some things that will need work before next years race, but all in all, I believe everyone had a great time.
Until next year...

Congrats Mike for making the first live WIRL sanctioned race a success. We will be posting a feature on wirlracing.com soon! Thanks! We had a great time doing it. There were many friendships made that weekend. I think next year we will not schedule on the same day as a proxy race though. On to Lima...
