It seems like some of you have nice tracks and timers. Has anyone done timing test on all of the available axles and determined which ones are the fastest ?
Maximum Velocity Speed Axles, Nitro Axles, Groved Axles sold by Forest... Just wondering if anyone did these tests.
John.

John,
Do you run Graphite or NyOil or? Graphite prefers axles without Grooves where as NyOil prefers the groves. Tests have been done to show friction is not significantly reduces with grooves however, With the NyOil it seems to act as a reservoir supplying little by little. so they say, it has never made sense to me as NyOil coats and to much is actually detrimental to the velocity. See Clear as mud. So what is your lube?

I run graphite. I thought the slots also acted as a reserve for graphite as well.
NyOil is not allowed in WIRL, right ?
What do you mean See Clear as mud ?
So, then the fast cars at WIRL are running non grooved tapered head axles ? Wow I though everyone was running with grooves.
What kind of polishing do you use on your axles ?
Thanks, John.

You can use NyOil in WIRL, you just can’t send them dripping wet, which would get you killed anyway. As Far as a Graphite Reserve, your right, it does. "Clear as mud" means I didn't really clear anything up, just made it more confusing. WIRL Guys, at least the ones I know run both. Personally if I run Graphite I do not like groves. With NyOil I like Groves. If you polish the inside of the hub with graphite I don't think you need the reserve. We only run 6 races at WIRL. I ran graphite on both my cars in April and took 8th and 14th. My 14th place car had a toothpick broken off in the axle slot the morning I had to mail it. I had to redrill snd ship it so the alignment was probably pretty nasty. I believe if you de-burr, taper the head, straiten and polish the shaft you should be fine either way. If you do buy Max V's Axles, "Speed Axles" "Nitro Axles" or "Performance Axles" online / eBay none have grooves I have used them all and they are all pretty good.
