I'm asking for permission and a christmas gift, but I don't think she will go for it. Have an aunt that lives in St. Louis, so that part is taken care of......

What are the entry fees, how many cars per each class per person allowed. Will there be a youth class, etc.? Are there trophies/plaques given or just WIRL points? HyperDrive

Hyper,
This is a fun run only. I think that there may be trophies for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd but that is up to RacerX. It's more intended to get people some help that they are seeking in person with how to build and tune a car.

To me the best trophy in that race is meeting some great builders and sharing ideas, wish I could go, but we have tickets to Circus something that I read on her face was a show not to miss....or live.....
If someone will take my hot rod, i will send it to them to race, let me know! Woody

Woody, I would be honored to take your Hot Rod but I am not 100% certain I will be able to go. I bet you could mail it directly to Racer X and then myself or someone else would be happy to send it down the track for you. PM me if you want my address but it will be after Christmas when I will know for certain. Bob

No limit to fun!!!
We just want to make this a really fun event and want to know who is coming so we are well prepaired. Lunch and beverages will be provided for Sat. by us and this is a FREE race so the least everyone can do is put in a request.
The main goal of the open is to get a good group of guys together, test, tune help each other and race after a good feed. If some of you guy's can get in early on Friday we will get a group together and go catch some BBQ and a few pop's.
I think the part on your entry form you have to sign says it all:
I understand that the Derby Worx Open is strictly a good time, learning and sharing experience with other racers of pinewood derby cars. The only prize will be my ability to rub it in my buddies’ faces that I won on the forum and no monetary prizes other than a good lunch and a good time will be awarded. I do also understand that not only am I allowed to test and tune my car on Sat. morning before the race, but as a fellow competitor I am expected to help others who can benefit from my help or kindly except help as needed for my obviously slow car. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Just so everyone knows, we have a block of rooms held at a new Super 8 hotel the next town over from us, Waterloo, IL. Nice rooms for $61 for a double and $56 for a single. We will get everyone together Friday night that is in and have diner in the same town, they have several nice local spots. Should be a great time. Everyone should try to make it. If enough people are staying over Saturday night and heading out Sunday we will put something together for that night also.
We are about 25 Min's from the Airport, if anyone is flying in, let us know and we will see what we can do to accommodate you as well.
We look forward to seeing everyone.

Racer X Bill, For those of us who have said they are coming, are you holding a room for us or do we need to contact the Super 8 directly and hold the room? Are there any hotels in Millstadt?

Let me know and I will get you the # for the hotel so you can hold it in your name but even if someone is late to register they will accomidate ya. It is only 10 miles away and besides Millstadt is a one horse town and my name is down the list to get the horse. Hahahahahaha!!!!! We have only 1 stop light in the middle of town and it flashes red only but we love it here.
Here is how you get to Derby Worx: You head west a piece then take the first right cut-off then you travel a bit through the country, past the Farmers Inn in the bean field and straight into the middle of Millstadt to the flashin light, cut ya a right for 3 streets then a left and we is right across from the auto parts store and caddy corner from the grain mill in the new building. See ya there!!!

Okay gentlemen, I haven't seen much response in this post about who's planning on attending the Open on January 12-13. So how about it, who else thinks they can attend? HyperDrive

If Warthog is going, then I;m going too! I'm even planning on building a car to race (or at least get it to go down the track) I recently even picked up a couple things of Tube-O-Lube to use! The excitement builds. . .

I would love to come but not sure if I can justify it to my better half. Spent too much at Christmas and all that jazz. If I make it then it will be a game time decision. I will call ahead and carry my registration, if that is OK?
