I know everyone is starting to think about their up-coming pinewood derby, sooooo, what are your thoughts, goals and dreams for that little piece of wooden magic that you and your child are going to build?

The boys want flames this year. Reallyreallyreally bad. Now I have to try and learn how to do it so I can teach them. We're going to try some different paints, perhaps from Alsa Corp., or Kustom Shop flakes. If only I had an air compressor big enough to run a HVLP spray gun! .008" flakes would look awesome under Kandies.
The boys have the "win fast" bug, so we'll see how interested they are in building pure speed cars vs. cars that look like cars. They won almost everything last year, but I know we left time on the track, so we'll experiment with more aggressive COM (.985" and 1.175" last year), maybe an offset body, thinner bodies (3/8" was the thinnest we did last year), wheel flares, etc. I've already been in the garage working on a design or two to see how it works.

My son wants to make a guitar car this year because he saw one at the BGN race. It will be a different challenge than the years before but, hopefully we can make it fast.
My daughter's girl scout car is a IPOD racer, pink of course, a very typical thin flat lean and mean body style.
