Good news for you! I wish our District would adopt these rules -- ours are stricter than that.
a. Only the official Scout Grand Prix wheels and axles can be used. Wheels must have "Official B.S.A." stamped on the inside of the wheel rim. Sounds to me like you can lighten the wheels as long as the inside stamping is still there, and cone the hubs.
f. The wheel base location of the car may be adjusted as long as you still meet the maximum length, width, height, and clearance specifications. Extended wheelbase! You lucky dog. We have to use the original slots (not just the original wheelbase)
Sounds like you have the potential to make a really fast car! Good luck!

You may want to get clarification on Rule 3.h[/i] before you lighten the supplied wheels or purchase aftermarket ones..... However, I see no restriction about the number of wheels ........ Might want to consider moving the non-dominate front wheel to the top of the body. Good Luck !!!

SROB, Good advice so far from F.A.S.T. & Roosclan- If there is anyway that you could find out who is on the district committee and ask a few questions- You had mentioned earlier that you are new to pack, right? district as well? Is your Cubmaster on the committee for district- if so, ask him. If not, he may not be totally familiar with the exact nature of how cars are inspected and how modifications are viewed at check-in. So far, looks like EXT WB is good. And, as F.A.S.T. said, placing the NDW on top of the car- nothing in the rules state that the wheels need to be two on each side, which means that you could also place the raised wheel on the dominant side- plenty of options there. I do not see anything in the rules that would prohibit you from having lathed wheels, as long as they meet specs. Rule 3.b- must be 1/4 wide: I measured a BSA wheel and got .315- so it could be possible to shave a bit off the inner tread face. I also measured a stock BSA tread thickness and got .084. There is a BSA stamp on the inner hub- you will have to leave it alone. But, you could lathe the tread thickness as thin as you want. If you don't have access to a lathe, there are other ways to get the job done. Your rules also allow for canting. 3.b states that the surface has to be flat, but does not indicate that the outer or inner edge of the wheel must be touching the track. You could easily justify 2.5 of neg camb on the rear. Use your Debyworx RR tool and bend away!!! Hope this helps!

I also would ask for clarification on 3h. I would ask for clarification on "no modified wheels". Does that mean you can't cone the hubs? You can also easily shave the wheel down with a Derby Worx wheel shaver to around 3.20 grams and still keep the serration. You could also take allot off the width as stock wheels are around 8mm(5/16) wide. !/4 inch is allot narrower. Or if wheel mods are OK, i think Pro inertia wheels still have BSA markings on the inside( 1.9 grams).
I don't see anything that says you must use 4 wheels. I would lose one and just use a guide pin.
Definitely cant, doesn't say you can't.

Our rules don't say anything about having to have 4 wheels, so I might try that. Most builders fabricate their own. Some make them from Plexiglas or Lexan. I've seen some made from heavy gage paper clips. A guitar pick works excellent; light, smooth and easy to shape. Plus some picks have cool designs & patterns already on them.

The guitar pick is a cool idea, I've never thought of that. I use plexi glass that I got at Home Depot. It comes in small sheets( I think 6 inch by 6 inch, but they got them all the ay up to window size). Its real ridgid and easy to cut and shape. Just get some #2 screws, out of the bolt and screw section at Home Depot, those come is small bags. Just shape your plexi glass, make sure it's smooth and rounded on the rail side, drill some holes for the #2 screws and attach to the non dominate side. Here's an example This was actually a small plastic shelf clip I found in the small parts drawers at Home depot. I modified it to work, but you can use the flat plexiglass and will take less shaping. Now I got to go find some guitar picks. ;D Scott Beakerboys

A guid pin may be worth trying... never have before. Can someone give me a little more info? How far below the car body should it extend? Inset a little more than the rear wheel on the same side?
