I've finally gotten around to posting the results of my boys' pack and district races on April 3rd and 4th.
In the words of Inigo Montoya (from the Princess Bride for all you who don't know):
Let me 'splain... No, there is too much. Let me sum up : Roosclan Racing's PWD cars cleaned up this year.
Now for the longer post.
The cars:
specs are at the bottom of this post .
The results were quite pleasing to my 3 scouts:
My Webelo landed 1st in den and 2nd overall at the pack race. He placed 1st in den and 2nd overall at the District race, coming in right behind...
his younger brother. Both times. My Bear got 1st in den and grand champ for the pack, 1st in den and 1st overall for the District. His goals this year (and I quote): “Win grand champion and have fun.” He succeeded quite well at both.
My Tiger had a ball this year, as well. He placed 1st in den and 3rd overall at the pack race, and 1st in den at District. He was about 5th or 6th during the grand finals judging by his cumulative time and the cars that had been beating him. He now has the pwd bug.
It really wasn't much of a contest for the most part.
Brendan beat his older brother by almost half a car length each time. No one else really came closer than his rear bumper at either race.
This will give you an idea of how Brendan did against the rest of the field, both at Pack and District. There were a few that were closer, but it was usually Michael that came the closest. Isaac blew the doors off everyone in the Tiger den, but saw just how far he has to go when he raced at the District.

here was a “close” one:
The rest of the races were pretty much like this (most of these are from the district race, as there was such a huge gap between my boys' cars and the competition at Pack):
this was probably the closest race of the district
Most of the pics are of my boys racing each other in the Grand Finals because my trigger finger just wasn't quick enough half the time.
For the second year, I helped another scout with his car, as his dad is great when it comes to sports and college administration, but lousy when it requires tools. Helped him design and cut out his car. He picked an arrow shape (arrow of light), and we managed to get a decent CoM. He did fairly well at Pack. At the District race, he was close to Michael until one of his wheels stuck and slowed him down for 4 of his heats, so he didn't advance to the Grand Finals. He was running 3.1xx and suddenly jumped to 3.9xx. It came loose again and his times dropped back down. I felt bad for him. His car is the center gold car.
All in all, it was a good year. Our fastest time went from 3.060s last year to 3.029s this year. Maybe next year we will actually be able to break into the sub-3s times!
