WAP 2010 Coming Soon...Now!
So, you might have been asking, what the heck is WAP? Did you mean WIP? Nope.
WAP is Wheelz in Pine Action Plan
We are doing things a little different this year. We had such great success with Alaura's Race we thought we would expand our reach and purpose. We have adopted our theme of Pinewood in Action. This is what we are doing:
We are tentatively running 6 races this year. Depending on how the national races are spaced out we might be able to fit in a 7th race. At each race, in addition to Novice, Pure Stock, Stock, and Extreme Pro Modified, we will be running a special fun division. The special races are listed next to the race dates below. Our race fees of a flat rate of $10 for 3 cars and $5 for 4 on has not changed. What we are changing is adding an extra fee for the special races. Each entry in the special division will cost $10. And this is where Action comes into play. We are dividing the season in half. We will collect the special division fees for the first 3 races and in July we will donate those proceeds to:
Connecting Family and Friends When Health Matters Most
www.caringbridge.org/
There mission: To bring together a global community of care powered by the love of family and friends in an easy, accessible and private way.
As a lot of you have noticed, Jay's cousin John has Leukemia. This website has allowed Jay to keep track of his cousin's status. We believe this is a worthy organization and believe you will also.
The second half of the season will be even bigger. Again we will collect the fees of races 4-6 for a donation and in December we will donate those proceeds to:
We are proud to partner with
and
for this stage of Pinewood in Action.
In November PWDR will be hosting an online auction with all proceeds, in combination with the special division race fees, going to the Ronald McDonald House. More details to follow as we get closer to this part of the season.
Following that, we at WIPR hope to work with Children's Hospital in Dayton and hold a pinewood event for some of the kids. Here is how you can help. Save some of your old cars and donate them to us so all the kids have some really awesome cars to run. And, if you are in the area, come on over and help us run the race! This will be a work in progress and we will release information as we get closer.
So, there it is. Our Action Plan for 2010. Are you ready to race and make a difference?
We are also proud to announce that these vendors have agreed to become permanant sponsors for the 2010 season:
