There's a thread over at Derby Talk that has a bunch more info about the situation in it.
As Forest says: " And that's all I'm gonna say about that."

Thanks, I read thru it. I agree with Randy L., the whole post race tear down stinks of witch hunt. If it passes inspection before the race, that should be good enough. Otherwise, why have a pre race inspection/check-in?

let me guess, the race officials who DQ'ed the top 4 cars had sons in the race who finished 5 place down? Funny you mentioned that. The same thing happened to my boys. My Wolf won pack by a large margin, and the committee chairman told me after the race that my boys' cars would not qualify for the District race being held the next day. The rule the chairman kept citing was exactly the same as the year before, and our cars were designed the same way as the year before when our cars were allowed. (My Webelo blew everyone off the track the year before) There was no time to modify my Webelo2's car they way he wanted (which would have required destroying the car), so my son didn't get to race. My Wolf's car could have been modified, but he refused to race if his brother wasn't allowed to race. In short, the chairman re-interpreted the rule differently from one year to the next with no notice or clarification of the rule. Lo and behold: one of the boys from his pack came in first at District, with a time that was slower than my Wolf's time at the Pack race. Now my Webelo 2 doesn't want to build a car for his last possible race, figuring there's no point since the rules will be changed after the fact. So, thanks Mr. Committee Chairman...
