Found this picture and thought I would share. The yellow car in front was my son's first car. We worked on that car and thought we had a winner. We got to our pack race and got smoked. Still, we had fun!
The black car was my son's second car. He is an excellent spray painter!
The red car with the yellow wheels was my first car. The darn thing was fast. Nothing would touch it in our fleet of cars for one year.
My son has done well in racing over the last two years placing second both times at council. Remarkably, the scout that beat him both years had track times that were on par with the fastest Pro Stock Cars at PWDR. Our Council does not examine these cars at check-in. Enough said....
We have about 30 to 40 Cub Scouts in our Pack. I run workshops at our garage and the Scouts get to use all my Derby Worx Equipment. We even have a spray booth for the Scouts to paint their cars. The Scouts sure do have a great time making the cars with their dads!
And then, there is me..... Well, my brother-in-law was into Cub Scout PWD racing with his son outside Detroit and he was the main reason for my addiction to the sport.
I started posting on another forum for Cub Scout PWD and got hooked-up with one of the moderators and started to Pro Race under "Team Sporty". Soon after, I decided to race on my own under "Shining Light Tribology" (SLT).
I took a couple of months off from racing and now I am trying to work my way back into the PWDR Championships in December. Those racers are fast over there! It will be a challenge!
If any of you dads have pictures and a story to share, feel free to chime in!
