I would not consider my self a Dummy but I am new to Pinewood Derby. My grandson and I only had 3 days to get this car ready. I have less then 24 hours now and prepping for paint. I hope it will be dry enough so tonight I can install the wheels and axles to final tune it. I have the wheels shaved and tapered on the car side. Axles straightened, tapered the head, grooved and polished. I have the COG set which was a bit of a pain as I had to route out much of the front to get it to just over an inch. Was wanting to get it to 3/4 but time does not allow. I spent many hours on the internet doing research. Not the best job of routing out.

I wanted to build a thin flat car but my all most 7 year old grandson did not want to. I did talk him in to the designee which I think is much better then many others.
I am hoping to build my self on this year. I am all so hoping to get a practice track so I can try different things to see what works best by what times they turn.
I have 3 other grandsons and one granddaughter so I am sure I will be build a few. LOL

46u,
Good routing job on the car. Did you cut the body shape after routing out the weight section?

Did well considering no more time we had to do the build and being our fist build. Our car turned an average of 0.18 seconds faster then the next fastest car. This was just the pack race but still very pleased. Paint was still wet Friday night at 9PM so I went to bed and got up at 4 AM to finish it then get in the car at 7PM to drive the 40 plus miles to the race. We are going to district next weekend. Running on aluminum 42 foot Best Track any suggestions will be greatly appreciated? I am going to add a little weight about 3 grams as their scale was real close to mine. thanks Jeff
