Hi,
I have seen recommendations on beveling the head of the axle. I did this last year both with the Pro-Axle Press II and also with a file. I'm wondering though if it is necessary or even beneficial to use both methods of beveling? Specifically, if I use the beveling feature of the Pro-Axle Press II, is it advantageous to also bevel with a file?
Any recommendations appreciated!
Thanks,
Tyler

From my experience using the pro-axle press the edges of the nail head tend to curl up and are sharp so at the very least I file the edge down a little while turning on a dremel before sanding/polishing.

Thanks dcgravity. I'll take a look after I use the Pro axle tool and see how they look.

The beveling feature will get you the perfect angle, remove the contact of the axle head flat from the flat of the outter hub face and is much safer than using a file for the kids. While lots of people report excellent results with just beveilig the head with the Pro Axle Press, we do recomend that this area is finished / polished and it usually finishes nicely when finish polishing the axle. There is no advantage to filing the angle over using the Pro Axle Press in speed.
