So my son stumbles upon this website, www.pinewoodphysics.com/Free_Downloads_files/car_template_free.pdf and says he wants his car to look like that next year. I'm new to pinewood derby. I made my first car this year and got 1st in the pack and 8th in our county. Not bad, but I'm still a novice at all this. So my question for this design is, wheel placement and weight placement. I was looking at the 3oz cylinder weight for the rear of the car and using Tungston cubes down the middle to make it 5oz. For the wheels, I was going to move the rear wheels to the back further and the front wheels 4 1/2" in front of the rear (standard). Any suggestions on weights, placement and wheel placement?
