Well, we finished the new paint job today. Sky said he wanted more eye candy so after a few days of thinking this is what he decided on. Up next on the project board is a custom box to carry the darn thing. The fun never ends!

Hillbilly,
I love the car. It is beautiful. The shine is unreal.
I'm sure Sky is satisfied with the "eye candy"
Can't wait to see it run.
Good luck!!!!

We used Spies Hecker products for the paintwork, HOK kandy mixed with Spies binder. I am an airbrush/painter by day, wood sander by night so we used what I have laying around. Here is a photo of Sky and I working on the paint. Thanks for the kind words, we definately enjoyed this build and look forward to doing another car with league racing in mind. This one has to fit within his district rules so the wheels and axles aren't allowed as much love as I'd like to have given them. No worries though, Warp did the honors of creating a set to our regulations . . . they ought to be in the mail any day now. I don't have the tools to create a decent set of shoes for it . . . yet.

Hillbilly, Absolutely flawless paint job. I'm planning on asking for an airbrush for my upcoming b-day to try and make better paint jobs. HyperDrive

THAT HAS TO BE ONE of, IF NOT, the nicest car I have seen yet. Body shape & paint are very sweet. Please let us know how it performs.

Hillbilly,
Tell your boy that is a "totally wicked ride" as quoted from my son. He will definately knock'em dead at the races. When you get a chance you and your son have to step-by-step the work and let us know how your son did at the races. I pulled out my old airbrush from high school and my son is wanting to learn to paint like this. All I ever used it for was for Watercolor illustrations so I'm sure I'll have to upgrade. good luck and best wishes.

Thanks guys! We enjoyed the time together. We are located in Phoenix, it's known as the "Valley of the Sun" but we sure have been getting some rain the last week or two. Nice outside today though Definately dig out the airbrush, they are a lot of fun to work with. Skylar is picking it up quickly, much quicker than I am actually. I'll post what pictures I have. There aren't many more but I'll post em anyway. I'm working on a car for myself at the moment, I'll do a step-by on that one now that I know peeps are interesting in that sort of thing.

Hillbilly:
Kandy Apple is incredible. What I'd give to be able to shape and paint like that. I actually bought an airbrush months ago, but I've been too intimidated to try it. How in the heck do you get that glass smooth finish? I'm told its largely in the priming. Any tips on that? Great job.

That is one heck of a paint job. The car is HOT! Could you post a picture of it with the wheels on?
