Here is a picture of the track we have to race on for the State Grand Prix. It is a 6 lane, 110ft long track with over a 10ft drop!!! This thing is insane!

It's a challenge to build for our 42 footer for our local race, and the 110 footer for the state race! Weight placement becomes VERY critical!

I'll bet! And a little tricky to find somewhere to test out that weight placement....
But I would love to see those races!

How many don't even make it to the finish line?

How many don't even make it to the finish line? There was only 1 car that didn't make it to the finish line the whole day. Several were close though!

I got 2nd place for speed with Odyssey in the leaders race (which I re-aligned and am sending back to WIRL in July) and My daughter got 5th in speed with Jeff Gordon (no hardware). Next year we are making a soccer field with the soccer ball ( weight) being movable so we can move it more to the center of the car for the state track.

what part of the Hoosier State is that race in? Is it worth the trip? I do not mean for me to race but to watch.

Doh, The track pictured is for the state race. clearly not a s-shaped track. Why would you want the weight in the middle ?

Doh, The track pictured is for the state race. clearly not a s-shaped track. Why would you want the weight in the middle ? The flat is so long that the rear weighted cars momentum falls off towards the end of the track. The more center-weighted cars are beaten to the bottom of the hill, but end up passing the rear weighted cars before the finish line. And after sneaking a peak at the underside of the 1st place winners in a couple of classes, I saw that they were indeed more center-weighted than rear weighted.

PP -- you have a hatred for the whole state of Mich -- or just the University of Mich?

What a track! Where exactly was your center of mass if you don't mind telling(not in Indiana so I am not a compitor)?
