I'm new to the board as a member and my boys and I are so hooked on pinewood derby that I decided to join. I've got to say that I am immensely impressed with the level of craftsmanship that you all place into your cars. The creativity is amazing!
I'm hoping to start building well enough to get involved in WIRL, however I do have quite a bit to learn first. My two sons just took 1st in their respective cub scout dens and 2nd & 3rd overall with two cars that we built. I'll try to figure out how to upload some pics for you real builders to laugh at... ;D
Any hope of you guys posting some of your most unique cars to this thread? Don't worry, I'm not interested in stealing any designs. Part of the fun is developing your own design on paper and then building it. I'm most interested in the RatRod. That has got to be the most unique looking car that I've seen to date.
Thanks and I look forward to becoming more involved.
Regards,
HogWild

I'll try to figure out how to upload some pics for you real builders to laugh at... ;D Any hope of you guys posting some of your most unique cars to this thread? HOGWILD, TO POST A PIC: SET UP AN ACCOUNT WITH A WEBSITE LIKE photobucket.com/. SAVE YOUR PICTURES THERE AS YOUR HOST SITE. THEN COPY THE PICTURE ADDRESS FROM YOUR HOST SITE TO PASTE INTO YOUR WIRL POST. CLICK ON THE 4TH ICON ON THE BOTTOM ROW TO INSERT YOUR IMAGE BRACKETS. THEN PASTE YOUR PICTURE ADDRESS BETWEEN THESE TWO BRACKETS. THIS IS MAVERICK. THE UNIQUE LOOK ON THIS CAR HAPPENED BY ACCIDENT - (MISHAPS WHILE BUILDING/PAINTING). MAVERICK WILL BE RETURNING SATURDAY FOR IT'S SECOND MONTH OF WIRL COMPETITION. IT WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT ALIGNMENT/SETUP & WILL HAVE DIFFERENT LUBRICATION FOR APRIL. (HOPEFULLY, IT WILL BE FASTER) GOOD LUCK & NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS. ;D ;D ;D (AND BY THE WAY......2FAST4U'S CARS ARE AS FAST AS THEY LOOK)

Hogwild send in your cars! I sent my first car in for april that never won anything. My son stuggled in the pinewood derby this year after finishing in the top in 5 his first several attempts. Hoping to learn alot for the future as I have a tiger cub just starting.

I appreciate the enthusiasm hothead, however I'm not ready to be embarrassed...yet...HA! These are actually my kids cars and after district tomorrow, we're hoping to retire'em. I've been drawing up some designs, autocad and on paper, and I would like to build one that I could call mine, before I submit anything. I'm also working on a logo to build under and once I have all that together I'll be ready for the embarrassment...HA!
2Fast4U, is there anyway that you could post some pics of Rat Rod? I can't get that car out of my head! I was showing my wife and kids your signature last night, however I'm not sure that they really saw the workmanship that went into it. Is it stock? How did you get the front wheels positioned and still maintain proper clearance? Not to dwell on this more than I should, because it sounds like I'm going Brokeback Mountain here, but that car is just SWEET!
Thanks!

2Fast4U, is there anyway that you could post some pics of Rat Rod? I can't get that car out of my head! Thanks! HogWild Well here you go ...... ;D This car was built for our enjoyment not intended for WIRL racing...cause it's not built for the rules used here... It's one of those cars that you build when you are just having a little fun in the garage... ;D ;D ;D...... ..... if you know what I mean... hehehe The car is a BSA car kit and the body is all wood and one piece. Rear weighted and built to hug the ground... to look like an old front engine dragster..... hehehe a dragster that has tail lights ;D ;D RatRod

Very impressive! Would have liked to seen it run or better yet, sitting on my mantel...HA!
Do you do your own paint, because all of a sudden I feel very inadequate? HA! My kids painted the cars that I posted above, but I did assist and I am by no means qualified to paint like you. Is there a special paint that you guys prefer? I stick with acrylic, due to the ease of use for my children.
Anyway, I love it! It is simply put...a work of art.

Thank you Hogwild My brother does all the paint work and body work. I cut out the basic shape and then let him have it .... then he brings it back to me .... sometimes I wonder what I'm going to get....hehehe ;D It is a team effort on both our parts..
