hey Knothead, I was born in the south and my plans are to die in the south. The older I get (very near 50), the less tolerate I'm with the cold weather.
GBD has moved on the pinewood derby heaven! I was re-drilling rear axle hole on right side when the whole back corner broke. It was the same side that was broken earlier last year by the usps. I performed surgery on it and the good news was GBD was an organ donor! It donated approximately 3.5 ozs of tungsten to an accepting car. Hope to have new cars ready by April race.
Not much time for pinewood since first of year with new job responsibilities and getting ready for the family vacation (last one for several years). We are leaving for Italy on a school trip on March 18th and return on March 31. I have been telling people, this is a pre-retirement trip with post retirement money.

Fatdaddy, when you asked about what district, I'm assuming you mean scouting district? I haven't been associated with scouting since the mid seventies. I got started with this pinewood racing just last November through, of all things, Toyota. The New York regional office put on a pinewood derby for all of us technicians, with the district races for the respective dealerships, and those winners to attend a regional finals, sometime this month. I must say that I've been bitten by the "Pinewood" bug pretty hard, as my two sons (in their thirties) and I are planning on getting a track (3 lane 42' aluminum) to race/play on. We intend to offer the track as a test-n-tune source and have races through out the year, and maybe get a pinewood club started for families that would like to race more than once a year with the scouts

If you want to see some more racing, our district derby is this upcoming weekend at Bacon Academy in Colchester. My son is racing, and it would be cool to meet somebody who's as into this as we are Give me a shout if you want to come down, I can pretty much guarantee I'll be the biggest guy there, and it wouldn't be hard to find us even if I wasn't, listen for the incessant chanting of Pack 19, Pack 19, Pack 19!

We're from Florence, Kentucky. Many of you may have seen the famous water tower 12 miles south of Cincinnati, OH on I-75. It is red and white and says "FLORENCE Y'ALL" Looks like Mr. Hardwick will soon be closer to us than Amherst, OH! Good luck on your re-location Lucky13. Andy Lester www.mpp-models.com

Los Angeles, California and you'll find it by going west! I'm in Simi Valley- Ventura County Council, about 7 miles from the Los Angeles County line. Ichi, I did my BSA Wood Badge training at Las Flores, a third of a lifetime ago. Pacifica Council ain't far from there. Here in the US, geographical challenges are huge, but we aren't all that far from each other. You still scouting? I'm not, my youngest is 18.

Ya know, I remember seeing that sign 100 times
"Birthplace of the US Navy"
but I couldn't remember where. I had to go look it up.
Kind of an unlikely place, unless you think about the circumstances.
We make the right there to go skiing in VT.
Your up there, my friend.
