Not sure if this post is in the correction location, so just let me know as this is my first post. I do have a few performance related questions concerning cars for wirl.
If I understand wirl's site correctly, wirl runs on a 42' track and not a 32' track as we run for scouts. How would the weight placement or cg might differ from a 32' track? I currently place 1.0 -1.25 oz on front wheels. How does that compare to others running wirl?
Are the trick wheels ra wheels or bsa wheeels? maybe both? I know some are bsa as you can read the letters; however some look like something different.
I'm thinking about entering a car in the open and stock division, and trying to get some basics to build on. thanks in advance for info and advice.

I currently place 1.0 -1.25 oz on front wheels. How does that compare to others running wirl? Hi Hotrod. Welcome to the boards. I typically try to run 1.0 oz on the front wheels. You can get away with a little less on the aluminum tracks. Are the trick wheels ra wheels or bsa wheeels? maybe both? I know some are bsa as you can read the letters; however some look like something different. The wheels that you see that are not BSA are RA wheels. I'm thinking about entering a car in the open and stock division, and trying to get some basics to build on. thanks in advance for info and advice. ed Good luck on your cars and I'm sure we all hope to see you in the WIRL competition soon!

Mike,
Do you find that the CM can be moved back towards the rear axle on the WIRL track?

Mike, Do you find that the CM can be moved back towards the rear axle on the WIRL track? Threader On my May & June cars, I have moved the CM back a little more that the 1-1/4. The track is a lot more forgiving and smooth.

John, so do I understand you moved the cm greater than 1.25" from rear axle? And if so, how much?
If you don't feel comfortable replying here, maybe you could send me an e-mail. thanks

John, I have a homemade 32' single lane track set up with a timer; however, it has completely taken over my shop. I guess I need to add on to track and open the shop door to experiment wirl. I don't think I can justify to my wife to add on to shop for 42' pinewood derby track. ;D thanks again for your input and wish you well with pinewood performance. PS: let us know if/when you start selling machined ra wheels.

They will be for sale when we fins something better, just not by me. I have something coming out that is going to be huge, in my opinion. You will see these sell after that!

Hotrod,
The CM on the Best track at WIRL can be moved a considerable way to the back, if your alignment is right on and your wheels are true.
Try 1" from the rear axle, but don't blame me if it doesn't work for you! It did work for me.
