Polishing the Outer Bore/Inside Tread

Obviously, my kid's race is coming up, hence the flurry of questions. We will be using something like Nyoil in our race, and not graphite. Is there something I can do to polish the Outer Bore to make it slick?

How about to polish (slickify--new word) the inside tread that will contact the body?

Would 2500 grit wet sand be good or some type of plastic polish?
