Hey guys new to the board and have a question. My son and I have our first Awana GrandPrix this Sunday and I had someone suggest trying pneumatic oil on the axles vs graphite. Have any of you tried this before or no someone that has?? What the best stuff to use between oils and graphites?
Also, where can I find that Hob-E-Lube that has been mentioned on here before?
Thanks in advance!!
P.S. Great site!

Anyone closer to Michigan? I need it before this weekend and I don't think that I could get it in time without spending a ton is shipping.

Hobby Lobby has Hob-e-lube. Also, most any model shop/hobby shop that carries any pinewood derby kits/accessories will likely carry hob-e-lube.

Any scout shops in your area? They may have some also.

You shouldn't' have any problem at all finding hobe-lube graphite locally before the weekend race. The only thing that I caution is that you need to avoid graphite lube from a hardware store that is not specific to these cars or at least already tested and recommended by others. I made the mistake of using some industrial brand from a local hardware and had terrible test results. Just something to think about. Call around, your BSA scout shop will most definitely have it (though this is peak season and they may be low).
Also, Steve, I loved your suggestion on reverse mounting the FDW- you always seem to be a "step ahead" I hope it works. Would be interesting to make several cars and try it different ways. I have never heard of a track designed like that.
Good luck- hope to see you in the Proxy underworld (you're already in it, in case you didn't know) ;D Welcome!!!

Hey TooFast, I'm still new myself. All I meant was that the simple fact that you have posted on this board means that you are very likely in the near future to continue posting and hopefully send a car or two in to league racing, proxy that is. If you need any help with how to register or get started send me a PM. I will be happy to help. The next race with WIRL is Saturday 3/22.

Make sure you dont try use the same wheels and axles if you are testing both nyoil and graphite. Unless you can absolutely positively clean all of the nyoil off, when you apply the graphite it will create a gooey mess. Break in that graphite as well...
