I find that I'm going through many block of wood building test cars in my quest to build a truly competitive car. I'm wondering what is a good source of wood for the cars. Anybody have any ideas?

thats a good question to ask ! I myself go through alot of wood blocks, I either buy the whole kit and give out the extra stuff for the kids at the workshops. THere our a few vendors that sell just the blocks also. sporty

If you are not going to build it as tall as the kit, do what I do- buy a nice 1"X3"Xwhatever #1 pine board and cut them out. That makes the wood less than $.50 a car. If it's just testing, like mine you won't need those axle slots, anyway, right? After all pine is pine is pine...also, some of the big box stores sell wood already milled to 1/2", and even 1/4" thick, if you're looking to go really thin.

Winderby (I have no affiliation) sells blank blocks for $1.60...no holes or slots. Can easily get two wedges or low profile cars from each block - $0.80 per car.

Maximum Velocity also has the blank pine blocks - 1.45. Again, pretty inexpensive if you get two cars per block...
