Just wondering what everyone considers a good time for a relatively smooth 42" wooden track. I'll be racing on one next month and would like to knw what to expect. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Sorry pinecone -- no way to tell with any reliability. I can tell you that the track my son's cub scout pack ran on was a very well made wooden track, built 3 years ago by an expert cabinet maker, It is about as smooth at a wooden track can be. They had their Pinewood Derby yesterday and the car that won posted a 2.94 average. The track is about 42" long, but it was custom made and I'm not 100% sure of that. Even if it were identical to the track you cars run on it would be difficult to say. My pure stock car "Wasabi" runs 3.05 at Wirl and 2.98 at PWDR, and those tracks are the exact same track set up slightly differently.
I know this doesn't help, but the point is, until you know what the top cars will run on the track in question you won't know what to expect.
