My son finished first at Pack race, second at District level (behind by .05 seconds) and now on to Council Race level. His time improved at district, but one car was slightly better. We finished first in every heat, only to finish second by average time. How can we shave off fractions of seconds? We are on weight, length, graphite, hubs, THE WORKS. Any suggestions??

This is part of the thrill of building and racing these cars. Spending all that time, making sure everything is 'just right'. Hoping it's good enough. That's why we all gather here on this forum. We are all looking for that next .05 or .005 even. We all want to take it to that next level, so your in good company.
Tell us how you built the car and we'll throw out some ideas, but in the end it's gonna be up to you to pull it off.
Sounds like you guys have built a really fast car. Look at how many haven't made it as far as you two have. Unless your willing to build it all over again, I'm not sure you can do it. You can't short cut your way into speed.
Are they keeping the car ? Are you allowed to change it ?
Something else that I think is pretty important; do you know what kind of track you will be racing on and how it is set up ? For example, I raced on 2 BEST tracks this year and they were set up completely different. The first had a super long flat section and a sharp curve section. Was brutal to cars that were not rock steady - they wobbled badly. The second had no flat sections. It was all 1 long gentile curve, and was a bit shorter too.
Post some pictures and detail the build - can't wait ;D
