Hav you ever heard of rubbing a lead pencil on an axle to get the graphite embedded onto it.

I heard of it used instead of graphite lube ... I don't think I would want to mix the two.

I recommend a high quality graphite lube such as Max-V-Lube. Pencil lead is graphite mixed with clay (clay is not a particularly good lube - ).

A fantastic way to get graphite firmly embedded into the axle shaft is with the use of the Derby Monkey axle lube kit. You twist the axle back and forth into a bed of micro-fine graphite. It works great.
