I'm stuck I keep getting 2.58's! Here are the specs Track 32ft. Freedom with K2 Timer. Car has COM of 11/16 biased to DFW Rear axles canted 2.5* in the body axles are straight steers into the rail at 22" AWANA wheels and axles. "original width and diameter, custom lathed to get a round wheel within the rules. All wheels migrate out to highly polished axle heads Nye oil properly applied. Car tracks exactly as set up no wobbles etc.
The fastest car at track day was 2.55(same guy 3 cars all that fast) fourth place overall will not be good enough!
Some thoughts please.

Have you thought about trying Krytox instead of the NyOil?
Could just be the oil holding you back. That and with as finicky as NyOil is, that simple change might make a difference.

Hmm, I may look at that. I've been following the directions to the letter, shouldn't be a problem, hasn't been in the past. I know things change. With 48 hours to go I'll have to reapply and deal with the results. I'll see about getting some before our regional race. Thanks

NYOIL IS SOME TRICKY STUFF IF YOU ONLY PUT ONE DROP ON IT STILL IS TO MUCH OFTEN TIMES KRYTOX IS MORE FORGIVING.

I know, I try to be very cautious with it. Problem is I got it for free from a rep and after 5 years I still have 1/2 a bottle! Might have to just use it on my firearms and call it a deal. Anybody use MaxV's new oil yet?

My advice would be to clean the oil off and use graphite.
I have never been able to get the oil right, so I use graphite.

I agree with the other guys...get rid of the nyoil and switch to either graphite or krytox. Also, I would try a more aggressive com for such a short track.

I will be getting krytox. I despise graphite. I maintain the track and it's an absolute disaster after people using it. If it were possible I'd ban it. Thanks for the advice, we'll make some upgrades. I'll post some times after we are done racing. If I can find the cash I'll get some Krytox for regionals.

Update!!! We made a few last minute adjustments including whipping up a new DFW last night. Both cars ran 2.54's which was good enough for a first and third overall. My daughter and I traded fast times the entire event. If I don't mess it up when I relube for regionals next week she should be top 3. I hope I can pull out a top 5. A new member of our race team is picking up some Krytox so we'll have it for next season but it won't be here in time for next weekend.

Well, regionals were lots of fun. My car magically gained .06 oz in a week and I had to put it under the knife to make weight! Took weight off in front to help with rear bias. My car took 2nd to another car from my church. I did nothing to it and it ran high 2.54s each time. Daughter's car took first in division with mid 2.54s and no one was within 1/2 car length. Update on the Nyeoil--- I put 1-2 drops on the axle, install wheel, spin for 30 sec. Remove wheel, wipe axle with clean microfiber cloth. Use cotton pipe cleaner to remove excess lube and wipe off faces with microfiber cloth. Reassemble, do a practice run and race. Not the directions from MaxV but they seem to work.
